This page explains how content moderation works on BugBreeders.com (“BugBreeders”) and how you can appeal decisions, consistent with the EU Digital Services Act (DSA).

1) What we moderate

We review and may act on:

  • Listings, images, titles, tags, descriptions, comments/messages.

  • Accounts and behaviors (spam, scams, harassment, evasion).

  • Violations of Terms, Content & Listing Rules, Prohibited Items & Animal Welfare, Copyright & Takedown, or applicable laws.

2) How moderation happens

  • Signals: user reports, automated signals (spam/abuse patterns), and manual reviews.

  • Actions we may take: edit, de-rank, restrict visibility, temporarily hide, remove content, limit features, or suspend accounts.

  • Emergency action: in clear, serious risk (e.g., illegal wildlife trafficking, fraud, safety threats) we may act immediately.

3) Statement of Reasons (DSA)

When we remove or restrict content, we provide a Statement of Reasons explaining:

  • What was affected (listing/account),

  • Which policy or law we relied on,

  • The essence of our assessment,

  • How to appeal and the relevant deadlines.

4) Reporting content

  • Use the Report button on listings or email [abuse@bugbreeders.com].

  • Include the URL, screenshots, and why you believe it violates our policies or the law.

  • We aim to review valid reports within [48–72 h] (may vary with volume/severity).

5) Appeals (internal complaint system – DSA)

If your content/account was restricted or removed:

  • File an appeal via Account → Moderation & Appeals or email [appeals@bugbreeders.com].

  • Include decision reference (from the Statement of Reasons) and any supporting evidence.

  • We aim to decide appeals within [7–14 days], prioritizing safety/legal cases.

Appeal outcomes:

  • Uphold (decision stands)

  • Modify (partial restoration)

  • Reverse (restore content/access)

6) Repeat violations & penalties

  • Repeated or severe breaches (e.g., illegal species, fraud, IP infringement) may lead to longer suspensions or permanent bans.

  • Evasion (re-posting removed content, creating new accounts) may result in account blocks and content removal.

7) Law enforcement & authorities

  • We cooperate with lawful requests from competent authorities.

  • For official requests, contact our Single Point of Contact (DSA): [legal@bugbreeders.com] (languages: [EN/ES]).

8) Out-of-court dispute settlement & courts (DSA)

If you are an EU user and disagree with our final appeal decision, the DSA gives access to certified out-of-court dispute settlement bodies (where available). This does not affect your right to go to court under applicable law.

9) Transparency

We periodically publish a Transparency Report (aggregated stats about removals, reasons, and appeals outcomes).
